2014’s Liar of the Year: Jonathan Gruber

2014’s Liar of the Year: Jonathan Gruber

If you remember Gruber got into trouble for telling the truth about Obamacare. That they had to lie about it to get it voted for and that the American people were stupid. Think about this. Who voted for it? All the Democrats in the Senate and Congress and none, not even one Republican voted for it! I guess the only stupid ones Gruber was talking about were those Democrats in the Congress and Senate. That makes sense to me.

Rep. Michael Grimm to resign after admitting to tax evasion

Rep. Michael Grimm to resign after admitting to tax evasion | Fox News

I don't get it. Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner, Senator Tom Daschle, Congressman Charles Rangel and Senator Claire McCaskill to name a few didn't have to resign when they cheated on their taxes so why does Grimm? Oh wait, all those people are Democrats and Grimm is a Republican. That's right, only Democrat tax cheats can get away with it. The rest of us have to obey the law.

» Never Take Gun Advice From a Liberal » Commentary -- GOPUSAWhat part of "Hey, Kids! Steal your parents' guns and bring them to school!" sounds like a bad idea?

If you answered, "All of it," you may be a conservative.

A San Francisco production company, Sleeper 13 Productions, created what they call a "Public Service Announcement" video in which a young boy sneaks into his parents' bedroom, steals a handgun out of a dresser drawer and hides it in his backpack.

He then carries the gun onto the school bus and into a classroom. After class, he shocks the teacher at her desk by taking the gun out of his backpack and slamming it onto her desk.

"Can you take this away? I don't feel safe with a gun in my house," the boy pouts.

The "public service" ad then wraps with the tag line, "Our children deserve a safe world. Stop gun violence now."

The company's president and this ad's producer, Rejina Sincic, has replied to outraged viewers on Twitter that she's "entertained" by their comments. ...
The most dangerous thing about liberals is they don't know they're stupid.

After NYC Deaths, a Surge of Support for Police

After NYC Deaths, a Surge of Support for Police - ABC News

No need to worry, out leaders will follow us... eventually.

Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance

Back when Hollywood was patriotic and loved America.

Kate Smith introduces God Bless America

GOD BLESS AMERICA ! ! Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, and said that when he and a million other guys first heard her sing "God Bless America" on the radio, they all pretended to have dust in their eyes as they wiped away a tear or two.  Here are the facts... The link at the bottom will take you to a video showing the very first public singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA". But before you watch it, you should also know the story behind the first public showing of the song.  The time was 1940. America was still in a terrible economic depression. Hitler was taking over Europe and Americans were afraid we'd have to go to war. It was a time of hardship and worry for most Americans.  This was the era just before TV, when radio shows were HUGE, and American families sat around their radios in the evenings, listening to their favorite entertainers, and no entertainer of that era was bigger than Kate Smith.  Kate was also large; plus size, as we now say, and the popular phrase still used today is in deference to her, "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". Kate Smith might not have made it big in the age of TV, but with her voice coming over the radio, she was the biggest star of her time.  Kate was also patriotic. It hurt her to see Americans so depressed and afraid of what the next day would bring . She had hope for America , and faith in her fellow Americans. She wanted to do something to cheer them up, so she went to the famous American song-writer, Irving Berlin (who also wrote "White Christmas") and asked him to write a song that would make Americans feel good again about their country. When she described what she was looking for, he said he had just the song for her.   He went to his files and found a song that he had written, but never published, 22 years before - way back in 1917. He gave it to her and she worked on it with her studio orchestra. She and Irving Berlin were not sure how the song would be received by the public, but both agreed they would not take any profits from God Bless America . Any profits would go to the Boy Scouts of America. Over the years, the Boy Scouts have received millions of dollars in royalties from this song.  This video starts out with Kate Smith coming into the radio studio with the orchestra and an audience. She introduces the new song for the very first time, and starts singing. After the first couple verses, with her voice in the background still singing, scenes are shown from the 1940 movie, "You're In The Army Now." At the 4:20 mark of the video you see a young actor in the movie, sitting in an office, reading a paper; it's Ronald Reagan.  To this day, God Bless America stirs our patriotic feelings and pride in our country. Back in 1940, when Kate Smith went looking for a song to raise the spirits of her fellow Americans, I doubt whether she realized just how successful the results would be for her fellow Americans during those years of hardship and worry..... and for many generations of Americans to follow.  Now that you know the story of the song, I hope you'll enjoy it and treasure it even more.  Many people don't know there's a lead in to the song since it usually starts with "God Bless America ....." So here's the entire song as originally sung..... ENJOY!

An Irish Miracle

Murphy drops some buttered toast on the kitchen floor and it lands butter-side-up.He looks down in astonishment, for he knows that it's a law of nature of the universe that buttered toast always falls  butter-down. So he rushes round to the presbytery to fetch Father Flanagan.
He tells the priest that a miracle has occurred in his kitchen. But he won't say what it is, so he asks Fr. Flanagan to come and see it with his own eyes.
He leads Fr.Flanagan into the kitchen and asks him what he sees on the floor."Well," says the priest, "it's pretty obvious. Someone has dropped some buttered toast on the floor and then, for some reason, they flipped it over so that the butter was on top.""No, Father, I dropped it and it landed like that!" exclaimed Murphy"Oh my Lord," says Fr. Flanagan, "dropped toast never falls with the butter side up. It's a mir…. Wait... it's not for me to say it's a miracle. I'll have to report this matter to the Bishop and he'll have to deal with it. He'll send some people round; to interview you, take photos, etc."
A thorough investigation is conducted, not only by the archdiocese but by scientists sent over from the Curia in Rome. No expense is spared. There is great excitement in the town as everyone knows that a miracle will bring in much need tourism revenue.
Then, after 8 long weeks and with great fanfare, the Bishop announces the final ruling. "It is certain that some kind of an extraordinary event took place in Murphy's kitchen, quite outside the natural laws of the universe. Yet the Holy See must be very cautious before ruling a miracle. All other explanations must be ruled out. Unfortunately, in this case, it has been declared 'No Miracle' because they think that Murphy may have buttered the toast on the wrong side!"

The Pearly Gates

Saint Peter is sitting at the Pearly Gates when two guys wearing dark hoodies, and sagging pants arrive.  St. Peter looked out through the Gates and said, "Wait here, I'll be right back." St. Peter goes to God's chambers and tells him who is waiting at the entrance. God says to Peter, "How many times do I have to tell you? You can't be judgmental here.  This is heaven. All are loved.  All are brothers. Go back and let them in!" St. Peter goes back to the Gates, looks around and lets out a heavy sigh.  He returns to God's chambers and says, "Well, they're gone." "The guys wearing hoodies?" asked God."No.  The Pearly Gates."

Cool piece of History - I thought this was fascinating!

Frank Hogg
Cool piece of History - I thought this was fascinating!

Starting in 1941, an increasing number of British
Airmen found themselves as the involuntary guests
of the Third Reich, and the Crown was casting about
for ways and means to facilitate their escape. Now
obviously, one of the most helpful aids to that end
is a useful and accurate map, one showing  not only
where stuff was, but also showing the  locations of
'safe houses' where a POW on-the-lam  could go for
food and shelter.

Paper maps had some real drawbacks -- they make
a lot of noise when you open and fold them, they
wear out rapidly, and if they get wet, they turn into
mush.

Someone in MI-5 (similar to America’s  OSS ) got
the idea of printing escape maps on silk.  It's
durable, can be scrunched-up into tiny wads,
and unfolded as many times as needed, and
makes no noise whatsoever.

At that time, there was only one  manufacturer
in Great Britain that had perfected the technology
of printing on silk, and that was John
Waddington, Ltd. When approached by the
government, the firm was only too happy to do
its bit for the war effort.

By pure coincidence, Waddington was also the
U.K. Licensee for the popular American board
game, Monopoly. As it happened, 'games and
pastimes' was a category of item  qualified for
insertion into 'CARE packages',  dispatched by
the International Red Cross to prisoners  of war.

Under the strictest of secrecy, in a securely
guarded and inaccessible old workshop on
the grounds of Waddington's, a group of
sworn-to-secrecy employees began mass
producing escape maps, keyed to each
region of Germany or Italy where Allied
POW camps were regional system).
When processed, these maps could be folded
into such tiny dots that they would actually
fit inside a Monopoly playing piece.

As long as they were at it, the clever workmen
at Waddington's also managed to add:

1. A playing token, containing a small magnetic
compass
2. A two-part metal file that could easily be
screwed together
3. Useful amounts of genuine high-denomination
German, Italian, and
French currency, hidden within the piles of
Monopoly money!

British and American air crews were advised,
before taking off on their first mission, how
to identify a 'rigged' Monopoly set -- by  means
of a tiny red dot, one cleverly rigged to look
like an ordinary printing glitch, located in the
corner of the Free Parking square.

Of the estimated 35,000 Allied POWS who
successfully escaped, an estimated  one-third
were aided in their flight by the rigged Monopoly
sets... Everyone who did so was sworn to secrecy
Indefinitely, since the British Government might
want to use this highly successful ruse  in still
another, future war. The story wasn't declassified
until 2007, when the surviving craftsmen  from
Waddington's, as well as the firm itself, were
finally honoured in a public ceremony.
It's always nice when you can play that ’Get Out
of Jail' Free' card!

I realize many of you are (probably) too young
to have any personal connection to WWII
(Dec. '41 to Aug. '45), but this is still interesting.

What Jonathan Gruber is Actually Saying About Obamacare

View from the left... But at the 5 minute mark he shows his true colors and agrees with Gruber that the American voter is stupid. In my many years on this planet I have witnessed many liberals/Progressives/Democrats who believe they are smarter than everyone else. It is reinforced by the fact that they never listen to anyone who disagrees with them. They can best be described by two of the three monkeys, hear no evil, see no evil, from the left but see nothing but evil from the right. They live in a cloistered world and they don't know it. They hate Fox/Rush/Hannity etc but they never listen to them so why do they hate? Because they are conditioned to it by who they do listen too. They are told they are superior but because they don't allow a thought that disagrees with their view they really are not. And even when one of their own tells them he lied to them and thinks they are stupid they assume he is talking about someone else, not them. And that is how Democrats get elected.

Another video Emerges of Obamacare Architect Calling Americans "Too Stupid” To Understand The Difference. Gruber paid $400,000 by administration, visited White House a dozen timesYet second video has emerged of MIT professor and Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber calling Americans “stupid,” and bragging about how the Affordable Care Act’s drafters had to deceive the public in order to pass the law.Fox News’ Megyn Kelly was the first to air the video on her program, “The Kelly File.” Kelly played the video of Gruber appearing on MSNBC’s “Ronan Farrow Daily” apologizing for his earlier remarks. “I was speaking off the cuff and I spoke inappropriately, and I regret making those comments,” he said.“But now tonight,” Kelly reported, ” more video has surfaced showing this was not the first time Mr. Gruber called the American people stupid in an ‘off-the-cuff’ remark. In this next clip from also last year, Mr. Gruber explains how Democrats played with the language of the Obamacare law so that it achieved their goals, by again, fooling the stupid public.”She then played a short 5-second clip of Gruber, saying the following, that a part of the Obamacare passed because “the American people are too stupid to understand the difference.”
I know a lot of libs who would agree with Gruber calling Americans stupid. They believe it and it takes someone with a certain level of intelligence to think that. That level would be low.

Snopes is often called left wing but their comments about this don’t appear to be biased. It would be hard to argue otherwise because the video is damning evidence. BTW everything that Gruber admits was done to get it passed was claimed by the right about the bill at the time of the vote and is probably one of the reasons that no Republican, not a one, voted for it. It is wholly owned by the Democrats and they paid dearly for that on 11/4. I suspect it will come up again for 2016 and well it should. Battle for the Senate: How the GOP did it - The Washington Post

Very interesting read.

Was 2014 like 1994... Yes it was and here's why

2014 election results - Google Search

As of this writing the results are not all in but for this exercise they need not be.

In 1994 the reps ended up with control of the Senate with 52 to 48. In 2014 reps ended up with control of the Senate with 52 to 43. The reps will add at least one and maybe more but 2014 is very close to 1994.

In 1994 the reps ended up with control of the House with 230 to 176 seats. In 2014 so far the reps have 237 to 159. Again, close to 1994.

In the 1994 governor's races the reps had 30 to the dems 20. So far in 2014 the reps have 28 to the dems 14.

In 1994 the state legislators also made a shift to rep but I haven't looked into that yet. The reason 1994 was so remembered is the amount of shift from dem to rep. The reps had the Congress this time so the shift wasn't as great as 1994. The end results, the amount of seats the reps have vs the dems is very close to 1994. With that in mind I will claim a bit of foresight when I said on November 1st that it was Starting to look like 1994.

Starting to look like 1994

Maybe feel like 1994 is better. It's just that as I watch and read about polls and statements from dems about the senate I get this distinct feeling that it will be a much bigger night for reps than anyone is saying. Call it a hunch or maybe wishful thinking but that how it's -starting- to look like to me. I'm also curious about the congress and governors races. If it's like 1994 then that will be good for reps too.

As Virginia Senate race tightens, GOP’s Gillespie confident about upsetting Warner | Fox News

"Republican Ed Gillespie is making a tight race out of his ambitious plan to defeat Virginia Democratic Sen. Mark Warner, slicing deep into the incumbent’s lead in the final days to re-emerge as a player in the GOP set piece to take the Senate. ..."

What's really happening is that the pollsters are finally telling the truth because they don't want to be shown wrong at the election.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Republicans win is going to be much bigger than thought. This is looking a bit like 1994 when the reps won big.

LADIES WALK NAKED DAY

LADIES WALK NAKED DAY (BRITISH NEWS)
Think this would get their attention?
Don't forget to mark your calendars. As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked and if he does, he must commit suicide. So next Saturday at 1 p.m. all British women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked to help weed out any neighbourhood terrorists.

Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort. All patriotic men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their houses to demonstrate their support for the women and to prove that they are not Muslim terrorist sympathizers. Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is further proof of your patriotism. The British government appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity.

Some things I've learned over the years about polls.

Some things I've learned over the years about polls.

1) In every election 40% vote dem, 40% vote rep. The elections are always decided by that 20% that's left. If a poll shows that candidate A has 42% and candidate B has 54% then taking away the 40% and multiplying the remainder by 5 gives you the actual difference of votes they will actually get. 42-40=2*5=10% and 54-40=14*5=70% So we see that A is just 10% and B is 70%.

2) Every published poll is not reliable up until the last week before the vote. I think there are several reasons for this. a) Used to get people out to vote. b) Used to discourage people from voting. c) Raising money. Etc. In all cases the polling is skewed to get the desired result and because they can't be disproved the pollsters have no qualms about lying. But the pollsters don't want to be seen as wrong so during the last week they start telling the truth so they can be close to the actual vote. That's when you'll see, "surges" in the polls. Lesson, ignore the polls until the last week.

I've learned other things, mostly that their seem to be far too many dems in DC but what can you do, they keep breeding.

The far right lost this battle. Consider for a moment the implications of reversing this issue. It can't be done and the only thing that is being done now is to slow it down to give people time to get used to it. But it's here to stay and that a good thing. On this issue I am a moderate and not far right nor am I religious, I am agnostic and my god has no opinion on gay marriage. I understand why far right people are against it but it's time has come, it's here and it is not going away. It's time to move on and fight a better fight.

2014 World Championship of Public Speaking 1st Place winner

Little Akio

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing someAmerican History. Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death'?" She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Akio, a bright foreign exchange studentfrom Japan, who had his hand up: "Patrick Henry, 1775," he said.   “Very good! -- Who said, 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People,  shall not perish from the Earth'?" Again, no response except from  Little Akio: "Abraham Lincoln, 1863." "Excellent!" said the teacher  continuing, "Let's try one a bit more difficult -- Who said, 'Ask not what  your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country'?" Once again, Akio's was the only hand in the air and he said: "John F.  Kennedy, 1961. The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be  ashamed of yourselves, Little Akio isn't from this country and he knows more  about our history than you do." She heard a loud whisper: "F---! those Japs." "Who said that? -- I want to know right now!? she angrily demanded. Little Akio put his hand up, "General MacArthur, 1945." At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke.' The teacher glares around and asks, 'All right! -- Now who said that?" Again, Little Akio says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991." Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? -- Suck this!" Little Akio jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!" Now with almost mob hysteria someone said, "You little shit! -- If you say anything else -- I'll kill you!" Little Akio frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Michael Jackson to the children testifying against him, 2004." The teacher fainted. As the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, We're screwed!" Little Akio said quietly, "The American people, November 6, 2012."

Jimmy Carter says he would have defeated Reagan had he been more 'manly' | WashingtonExaminer.com

Jimmy Carter says he would have defeated Reagan had he been more 'manly' | WashingtonExaminer.com
Former President Jimmy Carter claimed Wednesday that he would have been re-elected and beaten Ronald Reagan in 1980 if had been more “manly” in his dealings with Iran.
Interviewed by the show "CNBC Meets," Carter repeated his belief that the failed mission to free American hostages held in Tehran killed his chances, but then added that had he gone to war, America would have rewarded him with a second term in 1980.

Northeast loses 40% of House seats as people flee high-tax states

Northeast loses 40% of House seats as people flee high-tax states | WashingtonExaminer.com

The Northeast, once the nation’s political engine that produced presidents, House speakers and Senate giants including the late Edward M. Kennedy, is losing clout in Washington as citizens flee the high-tax region, according to experts worried about the trend.
The Census Bureau reports that population growth has shifted to the South and the result is that the 11 states that make up the Northeast are being bled dry of representation in Washington.
Critics blame rising taxes in states such as Massachusetts and Connecticut for limiting population growth in the Northeast to just 15 percent from 1983 to 2013, while the rest of the nation grew more than 41 percent.
The biggest impact comes in the loss of congressional representation.
Deep in a recent report, for example, the American Legislative Exchange Council tabulated how the drop in population relative to the rest of the nation cut the region’s power in Washington. While the states from Pennsylvania to Maine had 141 House members in 1950, they are down to 85 today, a drop of some 40 percent.
California and Texas combined have more House representatives..

“This result is one of the most dramatic demographic shifts in American history. This migration is shifting the power center of America right before our very eyes. The movement isn’t random or even about weather or resources. Economic freedom is the magnet and states ignore this force at their own peril,” said the report.

Here are the 10,535 pages of Obama Care condensed to 4 sentences...
As humorous as this sounds.....every last word of it is absolutely TRUE!
 1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to uninsure the insured.
 2. Next, we require the newly uninsured to be re-insured.
 3. To re-insure the newly uninsured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured.
 4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became uninsured, and
then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured,
which will be free of charge to them.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is called "redistribution of wealth" or, by its more common name, SOCIALISM.

Karl Rove: Why a GOP Senate Majority Is Still in Doubt - WSJ

Karl Rove: Why a GOP Senate Majority Is Still in Doubt - WSJ

If the reps can't win this one they should consider disbanding the party.

The Old Jarhead: I'm Tired--some updates

The Old Jarhead: I'm Tired--some updates
I'm Tired--some updates
I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.
I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.
I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the leftwing Congresscritters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them—with their own money.
I’m tired of being told how bad America is by leftwing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the religious freedom and women’s rights of Saudi Arabia, the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Gay people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela. Won’t multiculturalism be beautiful?
I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor;” of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers;” of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery;” of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.
I believe “a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin.” I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of President Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois. I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less in an all-knowing government.
I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful. That thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress, that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his, that slammed Palin with two years as governor for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever.
Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.
I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.
I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.
I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana. Update: People have written to tell me I'd have more sympathy if this was close to me. It is exactly having seen the destruction of alcoholism and heroin addiction in my own family that makes me pretty intolerant of people who are willing to destroy the people around them to indulge themselves.I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the citizens we need. Update: A few people have taken this to indicate some bias against Catholics, based on events 400 years ago. While I think they are either too touchy or fail to understand, I was only trying to say that I have zero problem with Catholics wanting to come to the US, but that I have great concerns about Muslims, as a good % of them do want to kill me, or force their religion and moral code on me.
I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years—and still are? Not even close. So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear. UPDATE: It has rightly been pointed out to me, several times, that I should have included Canadian, Australian and New Zealand troops here. My apologies for slighting these gallant allies of freedom.
I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers—bums are bi-partisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bi-partisanship. I live in Illinois, where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats and Republicans has worked together harmoniously to loot the public for years. And I notice that the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet are bi-partisan as well.
I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.
I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I’m damn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to get to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.
