Brooks is part of the old Republican establishment that thinks they own the party and not the people. Trump and Cruz are liked by the PEOPLE and the fact that the elite doesn't like them doesn't matter. The elites don't own the party, the PEOPLE do. The PEOPLE will nominate someone they like and let the elites be damned. The reason there is now more independents is that the PEOPLE on the left and the right reject the elites and the sooner they take a hike the better.
