I am proudly Irish plus a mix of Scottish too. I never knew that there were white Irish slaves nor that by 1830 4,000 black families owned slaves. The next time a black person says anything about their ancestors being slaves I'll retort, "Hey, I'm Irish, my ancestors were slaves too."
